Although you browse on the INFOTEC website, you use public transport every day, and the initials TEC or SRWT are familiar to you, you might not know what they stand for.

TEC or "Transport En Commun" [Public Transport] refers to 5 public transport companies active on the territory of the Walloon Region: TEC Walloon Brabant, TEC Charleroi, TEC Hainaut, TEC Liège-Verviers and TEC Namur-Luxembourg.

These 5 entities are supervised by a parent company: the “Société Régionale Wallonne du Transport” (SRWT) [Walloon Regional Transport Company], which is in charge of the strategic and sales management.

The daily work of the TEC Group is the result of a concerted action by several actors, each of which has its respective role to play.

• Adopts the regulatory measures;
• Fixes the fare structures on proposals from the SRWT;
• Defines the programme for investments in infrastructure and facilities on proposals from the SRWT;
• Designates representatives in appropriate bodies.

• Proposes to the competent Minister, through its Directorate General of Transport, the regional transport policy, transposes it into Walloon law, and gives concrete form to the financial means (budget);
• Grants, manages and supervises the authorisations to operate a passenger transport service and ensures the proper application of rules relative to passenger transport services and the technical requirements imposed on the modes of transport;
• Supervises school transport in the Walloon Region, by:
  • Guaranteeing the right to transport;
  • Making sure that parents have free choice;
  • Providing internal transport for pupils in schools of the French-speaking Community;
  • Ensuring that basic and special education pupils are properly accompanied during the school bus service.

• Coordinates and supervises the action of the 5 TEC companies;
• Proposes the fare structures to the Government of Wallonia;
• Proposes the programme of investment in infrastructure and facilities to the Government of Wallonia and implements it;
• Develops common actions,
  • In the interest of the regional (marking policy, promotion, etc.), or because they
  • Generate economies of scale (grouped orders, pooling of human and technical potential, etc.).
